Math can be a tricky concept to grasp for young students. Usually, they either love it or hate it, but regardless it can be hard for some to get the hang of. That is why I love incorporating fun and engaging activities to keep math fresh and exciting. These kindergarten math warm-ups are the perfect solution for introducing and practicing key concepts in the classroom. Funny little warm-ups each day get students’ brains working and ready to conquer their math skills for the day, plus they are so much fun!
Daily Math Warm Ups with Joke of the Day
If you are like me, you get sick and tired of dealing with the countless copies and changes in formatting every single week. It seemed like a never-ending task! It took away precious time and made it hard to get things completed in a timely manner in class.
This is why I decided to create something that would take away all the prep work and still be effective and fun! Teachers love the 180-day bundle of math warm-ups for kindergarten. How Does It Work?
The kindergarten math warm-ups are quick and easy to do as a class, usually on a digital platform like Google Slides, but they work with any digital platform. The first slide is a fun Joke of the Day that students will have to find the answer to. There is a series of 10 math questions students must complete to get the answer to the daily joke. If the students answer correctly they will earn a star! If they answer wrong, it will have them re-do the question until they get it right…can’t beat self-correcting activities! The questions change each day to keep things fresh and fun, such a great way to practice! Plus they spiral through all kindergarten standards which is hard to beat!
The warm-ups are designed to be done together as a class. It really benefits the students to have discussions about the subjects each day! After a few weeks of using these warm-ups, everyone will be a pro, and you will be able to quickly and easily complete them each day. Other kindergarten teachers have actually reached out to tell me that their students BEG them for their warm-up on days they forget because they love the silly jokes so much!
