Hey friend. I'm Nicki, the face behind the donut!
Most days you can find me snuggled up with my two cheese cats just trying to stay warm during the Minnesota winters. I stand by my belief that ice cream is definitely a dinner option and donuts are for any time of day… not just breakfast. When I’m not out running the trails or at the local Crossfit gym, you can find me pouring my heart into creating resources that make teacher’s lives easier.
I'm NICKI and this is my story.
THE RECAP
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and left the snow as fast as I could. After graduating, I packed up the car and drove right to sunny Arizona. I started out in first grade and quickly moved to second grade. 2nd graders truly stole my heart. They are the perfect mix of silly, little, but learning to be independent.
After a couple years in the classroom, I began to look for some extra inspiration and started my little corner of the teacher Instagram world known as The Sprinkle Topped Teacher. It began as a fun side hobby and quickly turned into a place that inspired me to show up and be the best teacher I could possibly be for my students.
Life’s newest adventure has landed me back in the Midwest. I now hang out in chilly Minnesota and am working on learning to love the snow again.
Let’s be real though. You my friends, are the real MVP’s for supporting my craziest dreams and my overly energetic stories. Seriously, I love getting to know you all!
FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
- I’m 4’11.5” and the half inch matters! I joke that I HAVE to teach 2nd graders or younger students because they are the only ones I’m taller than.
- If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life, I would hands down pick a giant plate of nachos.
- I’ve run 5 half marathons and finished my first full 26.2 miles in 2019.
- I have 2 kitties named after cheese, Colby and Bleu. You’ll hear me refer to them as the #cheesecats.
- The weirdest classroom rule I have is that students are NOT allowed to wiggle their teeth or show me a tooth that fall out. I literally faint. No idea why!
- My special talents include making any situation awkward, having the best fish face you’ve ever seen, and the ability to fall asleep anywhere.
