Strange Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets for Kids
Trying to find some fun handwriting worksheets for kids?
Over the years, I have noticed that kids are more interested in writing and tracing when the activity peaks their interest.
For example, if they are being asked to trace random words or facts about presidents, they may drag their feet.
On the other hand, if they are asked to trace or write sentences that make them laugh or go “Woah!”, they get right to it!
Using these Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets has helped encourage my students to write neater and to write more.
The worksheets are fun activities to have on hand as morning work, fast-finisher practice or small group intervention work.
The Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets are also available in cursive!
What Are Sports Themed Handwriting Activities?
The Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets for kids are a pack of 20 pages that allow students to practice their tracing, writing, and drawing all on one sheet.
Each page has a different sport themed fact that students will like learning. Many of the kids retain these facts for years to come and share them with friends and family whenever they can.
Students trace the sports themed sentence to practice fine motor skills.
Then, they write the sentence one to two times on the primary lines below. They can also draw a picture of the fact. They kids love this aspect because it allows them to get creative and interpret the sentences in their own way.
At the bottom of the page are check boxes to check their work for finger spaces, capitalization, punctuation and their best work!
The worksheets are available in both print and cursive versions.
How To Use the Worksheets for Kids in the Classroom
The uses for these sport themed handwriting worksheets are endless.
Our favorite way to use them is by binding all 20 pages together and keeping them in our writing journals or folders. You can bind the sheets with staples or rings.
Another option is to print the pages off and assign as morning work when students enter the room. Kids love consistency, so having something they are familiar with each morning is a great way to start the day.
If you want to save paper, you can print and laminate the pages. Then, store them in your literacy centers or writer’s workshop for students to use over and over with a dry erase marker.
Reasons to Use These Sports Themed Worksheets Compared to Others
With everything I do in the classroom, I try to make things fun. I would rather have students complete a task that leaves a smile on their face than one that makes them feel bored.
Think about it, strange sports themed facts are more likely to stick in their heads and motivate them to write than a booklet of ABCs or sight words.
They will be more likely to read the sentences so they can find out the fun facts than if it was an uninteresting sentence.
You can use the Print Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets or the Cursive Sports Themed Handwriting Worksheets!
I hope you and your students enjoy these fun activities as much as I did making them.
