Exciting Valentine’s Day Writing Activities for Elementary Students
It’s time to start planning your Valentine’s Day Writing Activities!
Besides, if you wait too long, you’ll get stuck handing out plain lined paper with hearts stamped on it.
Everything I found for Valentine’s Day activities each year seemed like it would require a lot of prep and time on my part. I am always looking for easy, meaningful activities that can spice up our regular handwriting lessons.
That’s why I created these silly Valentine’s Day Writing prompts that will help students with their handwriting and give them a good laugh.
Not only are these writing activities adorable, they invite students to check their work after they’re done. Let me show you!
What Exactly Are The Activities?
The Valentine’s Day Writing Activities are simple handwriting sheets that students can use any time of the day.
There are 20 pages of Valentine’s Day themed jokes for students to trace.
You may be thinking, wait.. trace? Yes! These handwriting activities are geared towards older students who think they are too cool to practice their penmanship.
To make them more enticing, the sheets have a funny Valentine’s Day joke. The students can read the joke as they practice writing on the lines.
Once they trace the joke, they can write the joke once or twice on the lines below.
The bottom of each sheet also has a place for students to check off the following items:
- Finger Spaces
- Capitalization
- Punctuation
- My Best Work
Even older students need a reminder to double check their work sometimes.
When Can I Use the Valentine’s Day Handwriting Activities?
The Valentine’s Day Writing Activities are completely versatile and can be used any time of the day.
The jokes make a fun morning work activity for students to complete when they enter the classroom in February.
They also make an amazingly fun handwriting booklet that can be stapled or bound together and kept in their desk.
If you want to save paper, you can laminate the pages and let students use them with a dry erase marker. This is a great option if you want to reuse the sheets year after year.
The activities are also great for fast finishers, homework and extra practice.
Honestly, they’re just fun to do as Valentine’s Day approaches. The kids will love learning new jokes to tell friends and family.
What’s The Purpose of the Activities?
Everyone has a few students whose handwriting is dreadful. It’s difficult for even the student to read.
If you were to hand them a sheet with the letters of the alphabet on it, they would turn up their nose!
On the other hand, if you hand them these hilarious jokes to trace and read, they are much more likely to practice their handwriting.
Anything to make fine motor skill development more fun, right?
I’d love to hear how much your students enjoy these silly jokes and Valentine’s Day Writing Activities!
