Easy Father’s Day Gift for Kids
Ah, holidays! You either love them or you hate them, and as teachers, it seems like there’s always another holiday waiting around the corner that requires a special activity.
Special activities typically require special planning, but thanks to the digital age, teachers can easily find inspiration for their next holiday’s plans online.
After Mother’s Day, June is only too quick to send us another holiday — Father’s Day! When it comes to this holiday, there’s much less out there in terms of ready-to-use activities for teachers than there is for, say, Christmas or Halloween.
Even so, my students have always adored getting the chance to put their thoughts, feelings, and appreciation for their dads or father figures into words. And I don’t know a parent who doesn’t adore getting a special, thoughtful gift from their child, no matter the occasion! It’s always a blast to incorporate a Father’s Day activity into their curriculum in June, and it’s why I put together this Easy Father’s Day Gift for Kids!
The best thing about this easy Father’s Day gift for kids is that it’s available in both digital and print formats, making it perfect for in-person learning and distance learning alike.
Plus, kids can dedicate their gift to any male role model in their lives (not just dads!), so it can work for students who don’t live with their dads. The craft includes options for an uncle, brother, grandpa, and any other father figure that students want to celebrate. Activities that make everyone feel included are the best activities!
From kindergarten classrooms all the way to third grade classrooms, your little ones are sure to enjoy this craft and getting to dedicate a craft to their dads or any other significant role models in their lives. Have fun, and enjoy!
What’s included in this easy Father’s Day gift for kids?
This Father’s Day activity includes both a paper and digital version of an engaging, meaningful craft perfect for the male role models in your students’ lives!
The many sections of this Father’s Day activity include…
● All About Dad
● Favorite Memory with their Dad
● My Dad is…
● “Can Has Is” Practice with Tenses
● Custom Acrostic Poem
● Extra writing paper for everything students want to share
* There are options for all different role models… they don’t all use the word “Dad”
The great thing about this Father’s Day activity is that whether you choose the paper or digital version, there is little to no prep involved and minimal materials needed!
How does the paper version of the Father’s Day activity work?
For the paper version of this easy Father’s Day gift for kids, all you’ll need is some colorful construction paper and the tissue paper is optional. All of the sections that the students fill out fit onto one piece of paper that will be stapled onto the bottom of their volcano masterpiece!
The paper is cut and folded so that students and the recipient of their gift can flip through the sections, keeping everything interactive and super fun. I’m willing to bet you have all the supplies needed for this easy paper craft in your classroom already!
Instead of tissue paper lava, you could let your students give their works of art a more personalized touch with painted handprints in shades of red and orange. The shape of a little handprint works great as a lava explosion!
How does the digital version of the Father’s Day activity work?
As for the digital version of the Father’s Day activity, you’ll get three versions with your download: one for Google Slides, one for Seesaw, and one for PowerPoint. Each of these versions comes with editable directions to the right of the slides, so you can explain to your students exactly what to do in your own words.
Students will simply fill out the text boxes right from their computer. When they go to present the slides to their loved one, they can easily click through the different sections, thanks to the clickable tabs at the bottom of the presentation!
Since students may not have the necessary materials for the volcano craft at home if they’re doing distance learning, the digital version comes with a directed drawing activity. This way, they can still practice their artistic side without the extra supplies. All your students will need are a pencil and paper!
