Digital Mother’s Day Craft For Kids
Looking for an easy, inexpensive way to celebrate the amazing women in your students’ lives?
It’s almost May, and you know what that means — Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day activities are always a hit in the classroom. Kids enjoy getting the chance to make something special for their moms and celebrate them.
Moms do so much for us, and I know they appreciate a special gift from their little one when the month of May rolls around. Even the smallest token of appreciation lets them know that we’re thankful for all that they do.
The great part about Mother’s Day gifts is that it doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive. The thought is what really counts! That’s great news for teachers, since I know we never want to spend more than we have to on classroom activities.
That’s why this Easy Mother’s Day Craft for Kids is the perfect option for a fun Mother’s Day activity this year! This activity is simple and low prep for teachers, yet engaging and fun for students.
All you will need besides the resource is some colorful construction paper and tissue paper. If you don’t already have these lying around your classroom or at home, they are super inexpensive to get!
Plus, the activity can be easily customizable to feature any amazing woman in students’ lives, especially if they do not live with Mom. Depending on their family life or who they want to celebrate, students can dedicate their activity to their Aunt, Grandma, sister, or any female role model they look up to!
Even better, this Digital Mother’s Day Craft for Kids resource comes with a print version for in-person learning and a digital version for all of your distance learning needs! Both versions are super easy for kids to navigate and require little effort from you, their teacher, on the prep end. Minimal prep for teachers and big payoff in the classroom are the best kinds of activities!
How does the Printable Mother’s Day Activity work?
This adorable, cactus-themed Mother’s Day activity is sure to be a hit in your classroom. Students get the chance to write special notes to their Mom or another special female role model in their lives, including things they love about them, their best memories with them, and anything else that lets their Moms know how much they are appreciated.
The prompts for the activity include…
● All About Mom, Aunt, Grandma, Cousin, and a blank option for another female role model
● Favorite Memory with their Mom or other woman
● My Mom is…
● Can Has Is
● Acrostic Poem
● Extra writing paper
For in-person learning, the print version includes a printable handout where students will fill out their answers. Teachers love that you can create this Mother’s Day project for kids with colorful paper and tissue paper! (So inexpensive!)
It gives students the opportunity to cut, color, and write about an important woman in their life. They will cut out their cactus, decorate it with tissue paper flowers, and complete the craft with their personalized booklet.
Optional: Your students can use handprints as their cacti instead of cutting them out of construction paper!
How does the Digital Mother’s Day Activity work?
With this Digital Mother’s Day craft for kids, your student can take the fun of Mother’s Day activities home with them. The digital version comes with two options, one for Google Slides and one for Seesaw.
Instead of writing their answers, students will type their answers directly into the digital activity with easy text boxes. The digital activity is like a virtual book with tabs, so they can simply navigate through the different pages. When they are on “Present” mode, the tabs are clickable!
Even with digital activities, it’s important to incorporate ways for students to practice their fine motor skills. The final activity is a super fun directed drawing of a cactus, so they can practice their arts and crafts skills right from home and take a break from the typing. All they need are a paper, pencil, and some optional coloring utensils!
When they are finished with their activity, they can present it to their Mom or chosen female role model. If their role model is away from home, it’s easy for them to send their completed digital activity to them!
It’s great to have this digital version of the Mother’s Day activity on hand so that no students get left out of the fun.
