An Explosively Good Time in Science Class – Apple Volcano Experiment
Any time is a great time for a fun apple volcano experiment!
That’s how I feel about it in my classroom anyway!
The funny thing I’ve learned is that if it’s boring to me – it’s got to be boring for my students too, right?
That’s why I came up with this fun and engaging experiment to help students learn the scientific method and so much more.
This science experiment is fun and engaging and your students won’t even know they are practicing the scientific method unless you tell them. I do suggest you tell them!
What is the Apple Volcano Experiment?
I like easy and I’m not afraid to admit it!
The fact that this experiment is easy from both the student’s and teacher’s perspective, is a huge win for me. It is appropriate for any of the elementary grades K-5.
The Apple Volcano Experiment includes printable worksheets that walk students through the scientific method and provides them with clear directions. It also comes with teaching tips on ways to incorporate the experiment into classroom instruction.
This interactive science book has the scientific method embedded into it and includes:
· Guided questions and hypothesis statement
· Steps for the experiment
· Observations page
· Conclusion
· Fill in the blank portion plus “the science behind the experiment” explanation
It also includes tips and directions for teachers.
Each student or group of students will need:
· An apple
· Baking soda
· Vinegar
How to use the Apple Volcano Experiment in your classroom
This science book and experiment are suited for several different units. If your class is studying volcanoes in science, this Apple Experiment fits perfectly.
It’s also great if your class is covering the scientific method as it walks students through the steps in a logical manner.
The activity is also a blast, if you are doing a unit on apples or if you are looking for a fun fall science experiment.
Is this science experiment for distance learning too?
Yes! The Apple Volcano Experiment includes everything you need for the traditional classroom or the virtual class. It comes with a fully digital version on Google slides for use in a virtual classroom.
So, whether you are teaching in the physical classroom, a virtual classroom, or a combination of both… ALL your students can enjoy and benefit from the explosive apple volcano experiment.
