No Prep 2nd Grade Math Warm-Up
Let’s talk math warm-ups! My first couple years I struggled to keep up with making copies, making time for the warm-up, and making sure each standard was covered. I finally had enough and designed a bulletin board that covered each standard in 5-10 minutes TOTAL. Yes, I said bulletin board which means NO weekly copies and NO prep!
Bulletin board prep!
1. Print the pieces you want to cover each day!
2. Laminate the pieces so you can write on them with a dry erase marker!
3. Hang them up how you’d like!
* I loved that the set came with the header and that the pieces were editable to hit on extra standards!
10 Minutes Or Less!
Every morning we sit around our Math Masterminds bulletin board and I fill it out right with the students! For example in the place value section, I just pick a number and write it in with the students using my expo marker! I love that this requires NO PREP from me before we start our day. We discuss each section together as I fill it out with them.
As the year progresses, I choose one student to lead Math Masterminds for the class. This allows students to practice their speaking skills and helps the class work as a team to solve the answers!
I don’t always go over each piece every single day. I just make sure to hit place value and a couple others each day. As the year goes on, the students get faster and faster which allows you to cover more in the few minutes you spend on your spiral review!
