Easy St. Patrick's Day Activity for Kids

Low-Prep, Easy St. Patrick’s Day Activity

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here!

I’m always looking for an easy St. Patrick’s Day activity to do with my students. Something that includes a fun craft, but is still academic.

And if I’m telling the truth, I don’t love classroom parties.

They get chaotic. The class usually forgets every classroom rule, and I leave feeling exhausted.

A few years back I made the switch to more themed activities and review centers on holidays instead of full blow parties and cupcakes.

The class still has a blast and feel like it is an extra special day, and I am no longer ready to pass out at my desk by 3 o’clock.

I started using low prep activities for holidays and this easy St. Patrick’s Day activity is one of my favorites! (Plus there is now a digital St. Patrick’s Day Activity too!)

1. My favorite low-prep St. Patrick’s day activity

I always have the best intentions when it comes to learning about different holidays. I want to do all the crafts, bring in food, and read a million books about the holiday.

But teaching can get a little hectic and we don’t always have time for that.

The easy St. Patrick’s Day Activity Flip Flap is super low prep, but still allows kids to research and be creative. It also has a new digital version added as well!

Just make copies for each child and chop up strips of colored paper.

That’s literally it. I am a huge fan of anything that saves me time!

2. Free St. Patrick’s Day technology resources

I always try to find ways to incorporate technology into lessons and I love using PebbleGo. If you have a subscription, there is a good article on Ireland where kids can get their research from.

Another option is the St. Patrick’s Day Brainpop which can be found on their website or HERE on YouTube.

I’ve also recently been loving the digital St. Patrick’s Day activity that came with the flip flap! Students love researching St. Patrick’s Day and celebrating why they feel lucky!

3. Encourage Creativity on St. Patrick’s Day

One of my favorite parts about the easy St. Patrick’s Day Activity is that kids get a chance to express their creativity both on paper and digitally!

We color the pot of gold page however each student desires. Then they glue ends of the rainbow down to the pot of gold. If you make one twist, it make the rainbow become 3D.

Then we glue the flip flap to the pot of gold, and it makes for a perfect academic bulletin board on St. Patrick’s Day.

Conclusion:

If you’re like me, and don’t love wild holiday parties and glitter flying around your room… the easy St. Patrick’s Day Activity is the perfect solution.

It encourages students to practice their research skills, can incorporate technology, and fosters creativity.

P.S. Good news! There’s also a BUNDLE OF RESEARCH FLIP FLAPS. One for each month! (Use the code: THANKYOU for an extra 10% off the bundle)

Have you tried flip flaps yet? How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in your classroom?
